Race Day is November 6, 2010
Registration is Closed!!!

We now have elevation profiles and course maps for both the full Marathon and the Half-Marathon. We also have our first set of sponsors for our 2010 event. Be sure to check out all the updates we made available.

Registration is now closed. All 300 spots have been filled.

We are limited by the National Park Service to a maximum of 300 runners so even with a full race it will be a small and very special event. Both races will run along the Hermits Rest Road and experience amazing canyon views. The full marathon runners will continue running on dirt roads in the Kaibab National Forest and finish at the IMAX theater parking lot in Tusayan.

Check back often as we will continue to add information. Some of our local businesses will offer special hotel rates for runners as well as other discounts. We will add links and/or information to their sites as we get their information. If your time will allow we encourage you to stay and enjoy this wonderful area and one of the Seven Natural Wonders in the World while you are here.

Please do not hesitate to contact us at info@grandcanyonmarathon.com with any questions you may have or if you need any other information.

Race and Course Information

The Grand Canyon Marathon

In 1934 the National Park Service constructed seven miles of scenic roadway heading west from Grand Canyon Village to Historic Hermit's Rest. This road was built for a unique visitor experience along the Rim of the Canyon. In 2008, the National Park Service preserved and enhanced this road by rehabilitating the historic road and creating a number of multi use Greenways that compliment the historic roadway. The 2008 Marathon was run on the road's opening day after the renovation. These upgrades to the road added to the experience of the runners and are still in place for our 2010 marathoners and half-marathons.

The Grand Canyon Marathon/Half Marathon were setup to experience the Grand Canyon in a unique way. It provides the Grand Canyon/Tusayan community the chance to invite and gain interest in a niche not normally attracted to the Canyon. It is also an event that directly supports the community through the Community Recreation Center.
