Grand Canyon Marathon

All Runners must read and follow the 2011 Runners Letter.

The Official Full Marathon Map has been posted. The below text has also been updated.

The 2011 Grand Canyon Full Marathon will Start at the Hermit Interchange & Bus Stop, just west of the Bright Angel Lodge.  The course will travel west up Hermit Road toward Hermit's Rest.  Runners will remain on the road as they pass by Maricopa Point.  Runners will follow the road right into then out of Powell Memorial Overlook, then right onto Hermit Road.  Runners will also visit Hopi Point and Mohave Point in the same manner.  Just past the Abyss, runners will leave Hermit Road and follow a paved bike/ped path and then return to Hermit Road.  Runners will take the next right into Pima Point and just as the road turns back south, runners will take a right onto another paved bike/ped path.  This path returns to Hermit Road and continuing to the right runners arrive at Hermits Rest and the Hermits Rest Bell Arch where they will turn around and retrace their steps back towards Grand Canyon Village.  Just before runners arrive back at the Hermit Interchange and Bus Stop, runners will leave the Hermit Road and turn right  onto the Rowe Well Road. The pavement ends and runners continue onto dirt and gravel road surfaces. There will be several Railroad Crossings.  At a T intersection runners will turn left onto FR 328 and ascend a steady grade towards Highway 64.  Just before Highway 64 runners take a sharp right onto the wide Arizona Trail and go south towards Tusayan and the finish line at the National Geographic Visitor Center IMAX.
